Moral Obligation In his speech “Brother’s Keeper” Eugene Debs states that we must help and defend those who are less fortunate. He makes a valid argument because it is our duty to help others who cannot provide for themselves or our much less fortunate. If we are more fortunate than others we should help those not capable of living a life nearly as nice as ours by sacrificing what we can to give to those with less than us. During the 1700’s women were not given the same rights as most men, and were often treated as less than men. They would be controlled by their husbands and would not be allowed to vote. Men, who at the time had more power stood up for some women’s rights such as the right to vote. Although it wasn’t easy fighting for equal
