The article talks about how Snapchat has finally decided what users really want, which is creating their own lenses. The article explains what a lens is to those who don't know. It talks about a few pros and cons of the new update, such as how these lenses can “crumble our own realities.” Lastly, Curtis Silver ends the article by explaining how it will be soon available on a desktop version and on Androids.

Although many hate the new Snapchat update, Silver agrees but for a different reason. Silver’s tone was enthusiastic at the beginning of the article, stating “Snapchat has finally decided that what its users really want.” However, as you further read the article, the authors' first statement began to seem sarcastic or satirical. Silver also uses humor to back up his claims saying “now we can crumble our own realities. And pay for it at the same time.” The author makes fun of lenses because there is one that is for funerals. He states “Grandpa might be dead but look at how emotional I am as evidenced by the giant tongue and sad deer eyes.” As shown above, the author is not a fan of this new update. The author hates this new idea, explicitly stating “The other day Elon Musk launched a giant rocket and a Tesla into space, then, like something out of science fiction, the boosters and the rocket landed back on Earth. Today, we find out we can buy custom animal filters and glowing text for our selfie game. We are truly living in the future. A future that allows us to continually disassociate with not only our physical forms but slowly distorting our actual perception of what is real.” In other words, we have bigger things that we should be worrying about other than Snapchat.
