During the 1830’s, many immigrants were moved to the New World. Thousands of immigrants traveled to the US because many experienced with poverty and disease. In this letter by John Downe to his wife, it was to convince her to travel to the United Staes to live happy. In this, he used rhetorical stratrgies to awe his wife to move away frome home.
In the beginning, Downe is able to use dicition as “ servents set down at the same table with their master s”. This tone usedis shown to convice not a group of people but his wife however the tone is powerful enough that it will convice everyone.
