“Darkness can’t drive out Darkness; only light can do that. Hate can’t drive out Hate. Only love can do that.” on April 16th 1963, Martin luther king Jr, so eloquently explained in his piece which is entitled “Letter to Birmingham”, it expresses the pain and the injustice of the life of a african amercan of this time period. He supports his claims by expressing his concerns for african americans. Then he goes on to explain how the police force treats the african americans unfairly and judges their character by the color of their skin. Finally to commend the hard working distressed people who still have hope or his words “the real heroes”. Through King’s use of Pathos, ethos and Tone, and rhetorical tools he effectively persuades the nation. Which he tries to illustrate to everyone that there is an issue that needs to change but, he offers hope for and assurance for the young african americans generations to come.

King wrote proves in every way that his work really paved the way for young african americans to strive for equality. At first I talked about that Martin Luther King Jr used lots of tone to convey his true feelings about the issues at hand. Then in the next paragraph I established the rhetorical tools used throughout this speech. Then in the last paragraph I talked about the rhetorical devices and why these were the most important. Without a doubt Martin Luther king has changed the lives of many with his words.
