Chavez uses many rhetorical devices in his argument towards nonviolent resistance. To begin, Chavez begs the people to see that the only way change can truly happen is through non-violence. He correlates nonviolence with power by stating that "Non-violence gives the opportunity to stay on the defensive" (Chavez 14-15). Chavez stresses to the readers the power of non-violence by making it impossible to dispute that violence is acceptable. He illustrates to the readers that agreeing with violence is morally wrong. Chavez knows that morals are important to people with religious backgrounds which is why he does this.
Chavez uses the Aristotelian appeals of logos and pathos to enhance his appeals. His use of logos is shown through his crucial
