Whether it's just African American rights or women's rights, all throughout history, African Americans have been trying to gain rights and be treated as equal members of society.In 1963, Josephine Baker was asked to speak at the March on Washington. Baker flew in from France to appear before the largest audience in her career. Wearing her uniform of the French Resistance, of which she was active in World War II, she was the only woman to address the audience.
