To the editor,
In the opinion editorial, Alicia Keys isn’t brave for taking makeup off. For most of us, putting it on is braver, Autumn Whitefield-Madrano explains that although Alicia Keys is brave for following the no-makeup movement, other women who wear makeup can be just as brave (Whitefield-Madrano). I agree. Women don’t always wear makeup to hide something. Many women who are naturally beautiful without makeup use makeup to emphasize a certain aspect of their face. People have many reasons to wear makeup such as wanting to feel more beautiful than they already are and don’t need to explain their reason(s) to the rest of the world. It is not always based on shame and a need to cover something up.
Whitefield-Madrano doesn’t clearly say
