Rhetorical Strategies In The Revolutionary War

The Revolutionary War was a pivotal moment in American history. Thomas Payne wrote pamphlets during his time that got handed out in the street; he was also one of the founding fathers. When Payne wrote “The Crisis No. 1”, he convinced the lower class Colonists to participate in the war by using rhetorical strategies. Henry found ethos to be an effective way of persuading his audience. Henry discusses that a select handful of soldiers do not have the will to actually fight. Because of this, he describes these people as “…the summer soldier and sunshine patriot” (Paine 134).
