Print is direct, motivational, and gives commands. The Rice Krispies advertisement uses both cursive and print fonts to convince viewers to buy their cereal. In cursive the ad tells the audience to, “Spend some quality time with your little helpers.” Also, the printed text says, “You’ll have a ball creating Rice Krispies Tree Trimmer Treats.” The cursive text is directing the parents of the audience to spend some family time with their kids. While, the printed text refers to all the audience to make this specific craft for christmas because it is fun for everybody. By making the first line cursive, and referring to a family’s kids, more joy is created to give Rice Krispies a positive connotation. Then, the font switches to print, and viewers have inducement to make this fun craft, thus needing to buy Kellogg’s cereal. When someone wakes up in the morning, and goes outside to let the sun kiss their face, they get the same joy when they take a glance at this Rice Krispies advertisement. From this family’s smiles, the jovial mood passes on to the viewer, persuading the audience to buy the cereal because it will make them happy.
