Albany Park sits in the north of the city of Chicago and is considered a designated community area. The area that is now Albany Park began as 10 acres of farmland purchased by an entrepreneur by the name of Richard Rusk in 1868. Richard opened a horse racing track which attracted many city resident to the area. The area was not only popular for its sport but also for the country like atmosphere created by Mr. Rusk. The area continued to flourish and in 1889 it was annexed by the city of Chicago becoming what now I called the Jefferson Township.
