The movie casablanca the characters have their own motivation for their actions. The main character, Rick, has lots of motivation throughout the movie, such has money and Ilsa. Rick keeps the visa from Lazlo because he wants to keep his dear Ilsa around. “ There is. I suggest you ask your wife.”. This is when Lazlo is wondering why Rick won't give him the letter of transits, and his reasoning is to keep Ilsa in casablanca. Renault is the representative of the Vichy Government, his main motivation in the movie is to look out for himself, selfive son of a gun. “I don't interfere with them, they don't interfere with me. In casablanca i am the master of my own fate”. Renault is saying this to rick, when he is saying them he is meaning the Gestapo and he is proving that he only cares if he is on the winning side at the end of the war. Isla to me is all over the place she doesn't really know what she wants so the one motivation i will pick for her is getting lazlo to America. Ilsa say to Rick, “Richard, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, but you are our last hope. If you won't help us, Victor Laszlo will die in Casablanca.” In this scene Isla is trying to find the transit letters for Laszlo and she knows that Rick has them. In all movies there are non diegetic sound and i will write about the non diegetic sound in casablanca. One scene that i really noticed the non diegetic sound was when the germans were marching into pairs, the music made this scene dramatic , it also made a little scared. Another scene that i noticed was one of the very last scene, when Laszlo and Ilsa were leaving Casablanca and when Rick shot Strasser.
