The understanding of what is right and wrong depends on who you are talking to. Some people do not think something is ethically wrong while others do. Raymond Devettere in his book says, “Choosing to do nothing in a situation where we could do something is just as much of a choice as the choice to do something.” (Devettere 1) Some people think that they are not involved in a situation because they chose to leave it. People can also think you have good and bad intentions based on your decision. This is very important when it comes to the healthcare environment. There are rules in place, so people follow what is right and don’t invade on people’s choices. If there is a risk of failure during a surgery the doctor needs to let the patient know everything that is going on. The patient would then be required to sign a form of consent that they understood all the information. This helps prevent medical workers from making the decisions and letting their own ethics get in the way. We may want to help people, but it is up to them to make a personal choice. When it comes to reproductive issues it depends on the patient involved and what they want to do. Contraception is an issue that many agree and disagree upon.
