The Landlady by Roald Dahl is a short story about a 17-year-old businessman named Billy Weaver who gets deceived by a landlady at Bed and Breakfast hotel. The landlady who works at Bed and Breakfast who appears to be a kind soul, kind-hearted, caring, generous and, most importantly, benign. The purpose of this essay is to analyze parts of the story that prove Billy gets deceived in the end. Deception is when someone causes someone to believe something to take advantage over the other person.

This is how Billy falls into the landlady's trap. First, when Billy arrives at Bed and Breakfast, he asks the landlady about the price. “It was fantastically cheap. It was less than half of what he had been willing to pay.” The landlady was making sure
