Robert Paarlberg, Matthew Scully and Joel Salatin are all credible food writers who have exposed themselves to the world through their writing as food activists. Their work includes essays, such as “Attention Whole Food Shoppers,” “Fear Factories: The Case For Compassionate Conservatism – For Animals” and “Declare Your Independence,” which have been published in notable magazines, such as Foreign Policy magazine, The American Conservative magazine and Food, Inc., respectively. The essay that appealed to me the most was Robert Paarlberg’s essay “Attention Whole Food Shoppers.” As I was skimming through the topics, Paarlberg immediately drew my attention through the use of a hazardous word, such as “attention,” which he incorporated into the title of his essay. This required me to dig deeper and analyze the essay in a broader manner. Even though the other authors had appealing essay titles, those did not grab my attention wholly as much as Paarlberg’s essay did.
