This was because when he was younger and afraid of his parents, he would go into pig carcasses and hide for comfort. His lack of personal hygiene means that he was trying to keep people away with his anti-social personality. Pickton would send some of his victims through a meat mincer. When throwing a party with prostitutes, Pickton used sexual aggression and raped his victims. He also fed some of his victims to his guests at these parties without them noticing. In the psychological theories, Pickton was lacking the fifth stage: the tertiary circular reactions, novelty, and curiosity. During this stage, pickton became stuck with the idea of pigs and slaughtering them in his farm. This resulted in the fascination with pigs to feed them the women he murdered. Pickton may also be in the genital and the latency stage where sexual unfulfillment and unsatisfactory relationships occur. This is because pickton was unable to hold a relationship and was unfulfilled sexually resulting in an obsession with prostitutes. Lastly, Pickton would also be stuck in the intimacy vs. Isolation stage. Pickton was unable to intimate with someone he truly cared about, or even hold a relationship with his family.
