El Mariachi El Mariachi, a Robert Rodriquez film that debuted his career as a writer and director, was a total success after being released. El Mariachi was made with a very tight budget of seven thousand dollars, but had an income of a million of dollars; it received a world record for the lowest-budgeted film ever to net one millions of dollars at the box office. Roberto Rodriquez is also known as the director of Machete, Spy Kids, Predators, The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, and many more movies. Rodriguez was born in San Antonio, Texas, he comes from a Mexican-American family and is part of a family of ten children. Then, he departs to town carrying a guitar case full of weapons to get revenge on Moco. Moco had him arrested and stole his money when they were working together. Meanwhile, a young musician arrives in town carrying his own guitar case, containing his beloved guitar. He aspires to be hire as a musician, to make his dream come true: to become a mariachi just like his father. While the mariachi is settling in town, Azul is killing Moco’s men to send a message to Moco that Azul is coming for him. As a result, Moco sends a large group of hitmen, one of them known as Bigoton, to demolish Azul. He told him to look for a man dressed in black carrying a guitar case. Unfortunately, the mariachi is wearing black and carrying a guitar case as well, causing the hitman to confuse him with Azul. Moco’s men mistook the Mariachis identity. Now they are going after the Mariachi, causing the Mariachi to kill four men in self-defense. In continuation, the Mariachi looks for refuge in a bar owned by a very attractive woman named Domino. The Mariachi falls in love with Domino, but Moco has his own interest in Domino as well. Later in the movie Azul comes in to that same bar and puts down his guitar case next to the Mariachis’, causing him to get confuse. As a result, he picked up the Marichis guitar case. He was taken to Moco, who identifies him as the wrong man and lets him go. Meanwhile the Mariachi was gone, Domino worries and partners with Azul to go save the Mariachi. Little did they know, the Mariachi was sent free. To be able to gain entry to Moco’s ranch, they pretended Azul took Domino as hostage. Once in, Moco realizes Domino has fallen for the Mariachi, furiously he kills both Domino and Azul. Coming in to the rescue, the Mariachi finds his love dead. Moco then taunts the Mariachi and shoots his left hand. The Mariachi filled with anger he picked up Azul’s gun and shot Moco, taking revenge on Dominos death. At the end, the Mariachi takes off with Dominos bike, her pit-bull and her letter opener by which to remember her. He leaves town with his dream to be become a Mariachi shattered, and he now goes around protecting his life with Azul’s weapons stored in the guitar case. As you can see, El Mariachi is a plot twisting movie, which it causes the viewer to get engaged. Also, to be a seven-thousand-dollar movie, with no professional equipment nor actors, it is a top-nosh, five star, dandy movie. The first time I saw it I was very shocked when I found out it was not a professional movie. Now, I understand why its ratings and its gross income were very high. I extremely recommend this
