Rod Serling’s message to the readers of “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” is to not accuse others without evidence. This motif begins to appear in the story when Goodmans” car started by itself. They copious freaked out and started to question him. Then they began to talk about him behind his back and Charlie mentioned what an oddball he is.
In the text, Man One says, “ His car started somehow. He got his car started!” This shows that Goodman had a strange thing happening to him, and because of this, people started asking questions. Therefore, he was accused of things that weren't true.
