In the play Othello written by William Shakespeare, the main character, Othello, has very malevolent thoughts placed in his head by his “ best friend” Iago. This causes him to make horrible choices that pave the path towards destruction and chaos. Othello is the main reason for the deaths of various people in the play like Emilia, Iago’s wife, and Desdemona, Othello’s wife.

The first victim to fall in Iago’s devious plan is Roderigo. During the beginning of the play, Roderigo is introduced as the man who wanted to marry Desdemona but was denied by her father.
