Life was considerably different in 1608. People were not thinking about preparation, and what they might have needed to survive. However, everyone was focused on gold, colonization, and getting to the places they wanted to be first. It was typically a race to get places and very focused on “majority rules,” or “first come, first serve.” People were also focused on advertising for colonization, which made them exaggerate or only focus on the great parts about a piece of land.
