You Are Your Own Worst Enemy
You are your worst critic. Somewhat like in the epic of Beowulf, the lead character in the story struggles with internal conflicts such as, is he good enough for the battles he needs to face, and did he make the right decisions in the end. Comparing yourself to everyone around you, brooding and mulling, denial, jealousy, being hard on yourself to the point of perfectionism, procrastination; These actions are all referred to as self-sabotage, and much like Grendel in the story, it could be the worst monster of all.

The truth is, no one can stop it but yourself. You are the problem, but, there are some things you can do to help. First of all, stop being jealous. When you are jealous, everything positive in your life goes out the window. Instead, all of your focus is directed on the things that you do not have, which in turn sets you up for unhappiness. Secondly, do not have such high expectations for everything. You will be let down, daily, so adjust your expectations to a maintainable and realistic standpoint, and they will be easier to meet. Next step, stop being doubtful. Doubt stands in your way of everything. Have some confidence and give yourself some credit for once. We limit ourselves by having doubt in our capabilities, but by not doubting yourself, who is to say you cannot do anything? Lastly, stop labeling. You can’t fit into those size one skinny jeans anymore with a foot hole the size of a quarter, big deal. That does not indicate that you are indeed fat, but instead that you are just bigger than you once were, nothing to be shameful about. Just because you cannot answer that mile long math problem in your head, or need something explained to you more than once, does not mean you are dumb. Labels are malicious, and if you keep sticking them to yourself, you will never be able to break out of the limits they put on us. If you think you are dumb, or fat, then you are going to limit yourself to what? The idea that you are dumb and fat. So
