There is continuous debate over who truly is the tragic hero in the play Antigone written by Sophocles. It can be argued that either Antigone or Creon fit the description of a tragic hero. Creon can be portrayed as someone that is prideful and controlling. Later in the play Creon displays weakness causing the audience to feel compassion, and experiences a downfall due to error in his judgment. In this case Creon is who best fits the tragic hero of Antigone
