The Great Depression affected everyone, both rich and poor. This was a difficult time in our history. In the book you saw lots of people's best and worst parts of their life. You got to see how they handled their low points and reeled in their high points. People tried their best to be their best and not let the Great Depression overwhelm them. In the book Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry many people tried to hide the hurt and pain of the great depression. These are some of the people who accomplished that almost impossible feat. Another time was when he told Cassie and his brothers that they should run home and tell the adults that they took TJ and were coming for them so that he knew that his sister and brother’s would be out of harm's way. The great depression was very rough on people when they were low on money they would become mean and would hurt people's feelings. They also could have known some people that were low on money and decided to be rude to them. Papa got his leg crushed by a wagon and was grazed by a bullet in the head this brought out the worst in a lot of people it brought out the worst in marry Logan and uncle Hammer when they figured out it brought out the worst in the Wallaces because they beat him up. The Logan's cotton was set on fire by “lightning” and Cassie knew that they were already making ends meat so this would cost them dearly the Logans were angry that their cotton fields were burned and they knew that they would have trouble getting the taxes
