A classical civilization is a long period of cultural history that was centered on the Mediterranean Sea. The Roman and Han Empire were two of the most influential empires in history. Regardless of their huge size and wealth, both of these empires eventually collapsed. The Roman and the Han Empires both had differences which led to their downfall, but the main thing that led to the collapse of both empires is not one event. Instead, it was many catastrophic things happening at one time which led to the collapse of both empires. In the Roman Empire, Nero was an emperor from 54 to 68 AD. Nero was one of the most corrupt emperors that has ever ruled in the Roman Empire. In Document 1, it states that Nero somehow ordered the fire in Rome and blamed it on the Christians. Blaming the fire on another group of people is irresponsible, and the fire was one of the reasons why the Roman Empire collapsed. The reason for this, as stated in Document 5, is that the government started losing control to the nobles. As a result of this, all of the nobles were forced to live at the capital of the empire so that they could be watched by the emperor. Another reason the Han Empire entered a period of decline is because of high taxes. The high taxation cost farmers their farm and some had to sell their children into service. The protests the farmers put up failed, causing the population to decrease and prosperity decreasing as well. The decline of trade also happened in the Han Empire as well as the Roman Empire. Document 6 talks about the Sino-Xiongnu Wars and how it led to the decline of the Han Empire. The Sino-Xiongnu Wars of 133 BCE to 89 CE were fought on the Silk Road which led to the decline of trade.
