INTRODUCTION

In my essay The “Roman Republic” I'm going to talk about 5 topics that made the Roman republic.

Provide a public service In Rome, people weren’t able to make large cities without aqueducts, their cities were set on plains. Water was a big tool, without it, it would be different and not clean. Their water was found from the springs and wells. One main issue in Rome was when the Romans got tired of being ruled by others so they wanted to be ruled by themselves. After they were done fighting with the king they made a new government called “Republic.” In the Republic you could vote for your own leaders but, technically only citizens could vote which are free men. Every soldier was included as a citizen which means that only men were allowed in the army. Being a soldier had some limits like you weren’t allowed to get married. Most soldiers came outside from Italy like Africa, France, and Germany. The army actually made Rome powerful, it took ten times its armies size to win over Britain! This was because there were half a million more men than the Roman soldiers. The men wore mixed armor of fixed and new armor. Early in Rome, they wore fitted bronze plates as armor, it was designed with a chest model and animal.

Provide rule of law

Before the 12 tables, there was a private law included in the civil law, this law only applied to the citizens, even children were not included as a citizen! As a republic, you could vote for your leader who creates your law. In Germany, they still practice the Roman law. The laws were put onto a tablet made of metal and they put it somewhere where everyone could see. The laws were sectioned into twelve different sections one law was, “If you are called to appear in court you have to go. If you don’t you can be arrested and forced to go.”
