From the beginning of Act 2, Scene 3 it is obvious to the reader that the relationship between Juliet and Romeo is destined to be a tragic one as both teenagers derive from families with an ongoing feud against each other. Within the play, it is evident that one tragedy just drives onto another tragedy as they all manage to interlink in some way.
The first main event which had ‘started’ the line of tragedies between Romeo and Juliet would be when Romeo and Juliet had met at the Capulet’s ball. Initially, Romeo intended to attend the ball in order to catch sight of Rosaline however when he had met Juliet it was ‘love at first sight’ and two lovers become entirely entrapped with their binding love to each other. They become oblivious as to what is going on in the rest of their lives. When Romeo and Juliet first meet, it seems that their falling in love happens with the blink of an eye for one minute they have only just met each other, and the next they are to plotting their marriage without the knowledge or consent of the Montague or Capulet families. The fact that they had fallen in love without even knowing each other’s last name says a lot about how the relationship between Romeo and Juliet was destined to end as when Juliet finds out he is a Montague she says she has fallen in love ‘with a loathed enemy’.
The tragedy of the death of Tybalt was reflected onto the relationship of Romeo and Juliet as this is ultimately what had let to the death of the two characters. On the same day the two wed, Friar Lawrence had warned the two that “These violent delights have violent ends, and in their triumph die, like fire and powder, which, as they kiss, consume”
Not only does the death of Tybalt and Mercutio add to the main tragedies in the play as the death of Tybalt was what had caused Romeo to be ‘banished’ and ultimately led to the death of Romeo and Juliet but also the fact that Father Capulet had wished for Juliet to wed Paris, this cause struggle as he was not aware that she was already married and so her reluctance and refusal to the proposal had angered Capulet very much.
Loyalty played a large role in Romeo and Juliet as this is what had led majority of the tragedies to take
