Sam the main character, is a trouble maker sixteen year old skateboarder. But he has to grow up quickly. Sam is scared and unprepared to be a father because he got his girlfriend pregnant Alicia. His idol is Tony Hawk. He has a poster of him and he talks to it about skate tricks and his life. Sam thinks and reflects over his future, but he actually is just a teenager, and he doesn´t know what he really wants.
When he fell in love with Alicia he couldn´t go any day without her, he clung to her, it was like a torture if he didn’t meet her. Suddenly he finished feeling the same way and he got tired of her and began avoiding her. For example even if he used to think maturely, going through a big trouble like he is going through now isn´t easy, however the only thing he wants now is to go away and disappear. He doesn´t feel able to take care of a baby and start a family like any teenager of his age. If he makes this decision it will affect his whole life, but the best way to go ahead is acting less cowardly. He thinks selfishly and doesn´t realize that it also involve Alicia and their baby. Both are responsible for the consequences and have to face up to it as adults. Alicia Burns is Sam’s girlfriend that gets pregnant and refuses to have an abortion. She and Sam meet at her mother's birthday party, though they get off to an awkward start due to Sam's obvious flirting. One of the most important external conflicts starts when Sam had sex with Alicia on the first date after they met at her mother´s party. There are so few girls who are virgins who decided to have sex with a guy on the first date. It was so unexpected and so fast that not even the main character, Sam, understood what he was getting at. Sam would think more about the consequences of the situation and get away, but one thing leads to another and Alicia got what he wanted doing a misunderstood victim role. From this time they continued with their sexual life without taking care of their actions, so anything could be expected.
It was one point less in their favour that they got tired of each other after a while because when Alicia said she probably was pregnant, the only thing Sam wanted was to disappear. He didn´t bear the thought of having a baby at his age and even worse if he should have it with a girl he hadn´t feelings for anymore. Here begins the most relevant internal conflict. Dealing with the fact of he will have an unwanted baby with a girl he doesn´t fall in love made him thinks selfishly. Even if he knew that he had the most part of the blame, he thought he was too young to take over responsibilities. The only thing he thought was to escape from this terrible situation. He felt his life was ruined all his hopes and future had collapsed because he didn´t think properly to avoid the mistakes.
