Close your eyes. Imagine a large, concrete, dam holding back glittery salt water. Now imagine that same beautiful structure crumbling, soaking everything in its path. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a story about two passionate lovers that try to hold back their love, but soon realize it is impossible to deny the bond they share with each other and those around them. Romeo often refuses to believe when love is not an option. Before he meets Juliet for the first time, Romeo and Rosaline, an old flame, end their relationship. Although Rosaline repeatedly says that they’re not meant to be, Romeo practically poisons himself with thoughts of her. He tries to comfort himself by saying (quote) Thoughts like this continue to fester and grow in Romeo’s head, even though their romance is clearly over. Despite this heartbreak, he falls madly in love with Juliet, a young girl, and they decide to get married.
