Ronald Reagan was the 40th president of the United states of America. He was a republican president who was in office for two terms from 1981 to 1989. He was born in Tampico Illinois on February 6, 1911. His parents were Nelle and John Reagan. During his term in office was very eventful especially since after he got elected, 69 days later he had an assassination attempt on his life, but failed and he recovered quickly and return to office. During his lifetime, Reagan enjoyed golfing, horseback riding, ranch work, swimming, target shooting. Some of his interest include major league baseball, football, and reading historical or fictional books such as the bible or the comic strip Peanuts. Right after being born he was nicknamed “Dutch” by his father for his resemblance to a “fat little dutchman”. Throughout his early childhood, he and his family moved from town to town until finally setting on Dixon Illinois where his father opened up a shoe store. At age 14 he was hired to dig trenches for ten hours 6 days a week being only paid 35 cents an hour, hired by a construction contractor, he manage to save up 200 dollars for his college funds. He graduated in 1920 from Dixon High School in which he participated in athletics and was the student body president, he also participated in school plays. Reagan worked as a lifeguard during summer vacations in Dixon. After graduated high school, he enrolled at Eureka College on an athletic scholarship and majored in sociology and economics. During his college years, he participated in athletics; football, track, and was captain of the swim team, he was also student body president and participated in school productions in college. He graduated in 1932 he started working as a radio sports announcer in Iowa. After 5 years of graduating a screen test won him a seven-year contract with Time Warner Brothers.
