To enhance the power of his words, Reagan decided to apply repetition to his speech. This not only made him come across more influential, but grabbed the crowd's attention in case they missed something he said before, by saying it twice. An example, is when he used the phrase, “We’ve never” in his speech. Reagan said, “...we've never lost an astronaut in flight; we've never had a tragedy like this.” (Reagan). Here, Reagan was emphasizing the fact that they have never experienced something that tragic before.
