"Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear." -Mark Twain. Mr. Twain truly understands what courage is - it is an admirable trait expressed through taking risks and standing up for what you believe in.
Firstly, being courageous is taking. Risks. For example, in The Outsiders when a group a greasers were nearby a church that caught on fire, they rushed to and saved the helpless children who were stuck inside, gaining major burns in the process. They took risks to save people in danger, and THAT is what courage is.
Likewise, courage is standing up for what you believe in. Rosa Parks is a great example of this. Ms. Parks refused to get up from her seat just because she was a black woman sitting and white people were standing.
