Rosa Parks is a perfect definition who someone who is ambitious. She saw that everything happening around her was unfair and she decided to take a stand. After a thoughtful plan was put into her place, she carried out with it. Knowing what her consequences might entail she carried out with it. “Even in defiance, she was a perfect lady” (Collins 109). I think it speaks volumes that her prior classmate was able to describe her in that matter. I think it is true because she was able to make a difference while remaining calm. When the police officer told her to get up from her seat and that if she refused he would arrest her. While maintaining herself all she said was that he may do so. Rosa was more calm while Ella spoke her mind. Ella was persistent. “One thing that marked Ella as different was that she absolutely refused to consider a career in teaching” (Collins 117). Giving back to the community was typical for African Americans back then, and teaching was usually how people gave back. Ella though, did not want to pursue teaching. Instead, she embarked on a career as a community organizer. I think that is pretty inspiring that she defied her society's’ expectations of the typical woman after education and did her own thing. Even though it hurt her mother, I wish her mom was proud of her because she was still giving back; just not as a
