In Rosalyn Schanzer´s Witches! The absolutely true tale of disaster in Salem , a doctor was examining a sick girl. He could not find a diagnosis so he said she was attacked by a witch. Then things went down from there. The girl and her friends and some others accused everyone of being a witch. The jails were filled because no one could pay their jail fees. The trials were carried on because of multiple reasons, but the truth was finally brought up. The Salem witch trials were started and sustained by many different reason,one of the causes is the Puritan religion. Another one to sustain the trail are the lies told by the accusers,finally to push the problem over the edge people turned the problem into a sport.
The Religion was the biggest cause to the trials. The doctor who Scrutinized the religion. The puritan religion says the devil controls horrid witches. “an entire generation of innocent Puritans could be condemned as witches” (pg 104 google

“the jails were bursting at the seams” (pg 59 google books Shanzer). Many people began accusing people for fun or to say they were a hero. People would rapt them because of what the accusers have done. “ large fees could be from the accused witches” (pg 112 google books Shanzer). The number of accused people went up and so did the number of accusers. Even if you were in jail you could accuse someone. For example if you accused a “witch” and they got hanged they accusers could say they were a hero or they saved the town from a witch. The one who could accuse witches was like an athlete or someone who was thought to be a champion. The accusers were basically imps or someone who was not going to heaven. “ accusers were not satisfied by pointing out just one witch” ( pg 57 google books Shanzer). The trials were brought up through religion but as the trials went on the religion was Unheeded
