At a very young age I went from being a young adult that was eighteen years old to a man in just what seems like months. I was born in 1844 just eighteen years before the confederate war. I grew up in a very normal home with my father, my mother, and my older brother. My dad went to work everyday on the farm. While my mom stayed at home and took care of us. My older brother he was drafted when he was eighteen years old in the year of 1862. Looking back now I realize how naive I was too the fact that i to would be drafted at some point. I remember listening to the radio listening to what was going on and never quite understanding the severity of the situation. And then one day it happened I remember getting the letter in the mail almost as if it had been yesterday. I remember the plain white envelope being addressed to me for the first time in my life I also remember knowing that at that point my life was going to change I was given a two month notice and it seems like those to months couldn't have gone by any slower I was just ready to get it over with and i was ready to just move on my brother actually wrote …show more content…
As i put on my uniform i realize how poorly it was thrown together one sleeve was to long and my shoes were to small the uniform was more grey than blue but still i wore it all the same despite how uncomfortable it was i made my way over to my tent and fell into a long peaceful
