Rudolfo Anaya, is a Mexican-American author and story writer for Chicano themed stories. Anaya was born October 30th,1937. Born in Pastura New Mexico, it was very clear from the beginning that Rudolfo Anaya was meant to be a writer. When his family set out tools from both family trades for baby Rudolfo to decide what he wanted to do in the future, he did not reach for any tools, but reached for the pencil and paper instead. As a young boy Rudolfo was very athletic and did many things from hunting, swimming, fishing, baseball, and football. One day while he was messing around with friends Rudolfo jumped into an irrigation channel and landed on his neck. He had thought about his adventures and stories for so long that it led him to the thought of spreading the important Chicano culture. He wanted to spread and teach the Chicano writing style, Chicano means boy or man of Mexican origin and culture. Anaya eventually started teaching at Albuquerque public schools for around 7 years. He also was a counselor for 3 years, and a professor of English. One of his most famous books is “Bless me, Ultima” which was one of his first novels. Anaya also wrote kids books and various crime novels. Rudolfo Anaya ended up retiring in 1993 to keep promoting Chicano novels.
