Rudy's Life Vs. The Blind Side

“You threaten my son, you threaten me.” This quote, spoken by Leigh Anne Touhy when Alton threatened to hurt Michael, very well sums up the whole idea of the heart touching movie, The Blind Side. In a different perspective, this quote could have just as easily been heard in the 1993 football classic, Rudy. Rudy’s best friend, Pete, was a good friend and very protective towards him. If someone threatened Rudy, Pete would feel threatened too. In both of these movies there is a focal point for people striving to help out to achieve the dreams of these young student athletes. Both films also have their fair share of antagonists trying to indefinitely tear their dreams down. In contempt of the similarities, however, there are great differences displayed between these two movies. This is the biggest difference between these two movies. Rudy has always had a nice little home and a family to go to. He had his brothers to play with and, he also worked at a factory with his brothers and father. Rudy grew up with a pretty easy life all in all. On the contrary Michael didn’t have a very good life before the Touhys. As a kid he could barely ever be with his mother, and if he was she was always doing drugs. He was separated from his whole family just as a young child. In the movie Michael’s real mom told Leigh Anne that every time they would take him to a foster home, he would run away, and come take care of her. Michael’s early years were filled with struggle and poverty, unlike Rudy, who had a family to come home to every
