An accomplishment in my life that has marked my transition from childhood to adulthood is the Running Start Program at my local community college. Running Start is a program that allows high school students to simultaneously earn their associate degree and their high school diploma. This program takes place during junior and senior years of high school. I was honored to be one of only 15 students, from the class of 2017, selected from my entire school district, consisting of four large high schools. The Running Start program takes place completely at the community college, and at first I was hesitant about missing out on all of the high school experiences and leaving my friends behind. The transition from high school to college was definitely an adjustment. Classes are every other day or just once a week, and the responsibility is on you to keep up to date and submit your assignments on time.
