Are there any true heroes from the Holocaust? The Holocaust was a tragic event in human history. The Holocaust happened during World War 1, the period of the war, and the Holocaust was 1941-1945. Germans led the Holocaust. The Germans formed a group called the Nazis who followed the rules and demands of Adolf Hitler. They built these camps that were essentially death camps, they were invented to kill all individuals. The most popular concentration camp was called Auschwitz. They killed and tortured Jewish people, homosexuals, disabled people, and so many more. They would starve these people. Most women, children, and elderly people were immediately killed when they arrived at the camps. Men went through a selection. Some were forced to burn the bodies of the victims who suffered from the gas chambers. Some were given other jobs such as construction or electricians. Some people made it out alive, and the American and Russian Military liberated them. The Holocaust killed up to 6 million people. Ruth portrayed quite a charismatic and courageous character during the Holocaust. Ruth was born on September 30, 1911, in New York City. She was born to Russian Jewish immigrants. Her parents were Gussie and David Gruber. Ruth has 4 siblings. Ruth also fell under the beliefs of the Jewish religion. Ruth sadly passed away on November 17, 2016. Ruth attended and graduated from New York University at the age of 15. Ruth then received a fellowship at U.W. Madison to study English and German Literature. This gave Gruber leverage when she went to Germany to perform a private escort to get refugees to America. Ruth became a spokesperson for all refugees. She showed America the truth as to what the refugees were legitimately
