After the genocide came to a stop, Rwanda was in shambles there was no government to run hospitals, schools or even shelters. With no government meant no health care and access to medical assistance. The genocide left many people with physical disabilities such as the loss of hands, arms or legs. Many were infected with HIV/AIDS and many children were orphaned when their parents were murdered.
