Are the SATs Unfair? Are you an inclined learner, yet are planning to go to college? According to the Huffington Post, SAT tests are unfair to students, studies have shown that most students who score highly on the SAT have spent up to $15,000 one tutoring for the test. Some other examples of how the SAT is unjust, is it increases pressure on children, unfair representation of students abilities, and finally excludes a large number of children based on a standardized test score. To begin,The SAT is unfair to teens who can’t afford a tutor. Students in New York can spend up to $15,000 on tutoring alone. According to to The New York Times, tutoring cost too much. Most SAT tutors will charge $100-$250 per hour, but in rural areas like New York or Los Angeles, it can get as high as $1,000 per hour. An alternative to personal tutoring is tutoring with a group but will not ensure scores going up at all. As you can see, the SATs can be a total waste of money, as there is a 50% chance of students scores going up. This may make you wonder, is the money worth it? …show more content…
