Sacagawea was born in 1789 or 1790. She was a Shoshone Indian and lived in the Bitterroot. People called her many names but one was was Sacagawea. Sacagawea was a very invaluable person because she helped people at a very young age, she assisted Louis and Clark , and was a role model to her children. Sacagawea had a very adventurous life at a very young age. At the age of 12 she was sold to a French-Canadian trapper. Her husband and her lived among the Hidatsa and Mardan Indians. In 1805 she had a baby named Jean Baptiste Charbonneau. She was a very good loving person to her children.

She was skilled at finding edible berries and food for them to eat. When the boat was overflowing she was able to save some of their cargo and important documents and supplies.
