Sacramento, one of California’s fastest growing metropolitan areas with an ever-growing city economy but how did Sacramento got this far and wants its history. The Sacramento area started with the founding of Sacramento, the gold rush, transportation of produce by train and the ambitious project of California’s first railroad, challenges facing Sacramento welfare and continuation of floods along the Sacramento River, and why is Sacramento the capital of California. Captain John Suter is a Swiss immigrant who fled his country to escape from depter’s prison. With the permission from the Mexican government, Captain John Sutter with 76 acres of land built his settlement and called it Sutter’s Fort in the year of 1839, in want will now be the city of Sacramento. “That year, with the permission of Mexico, captain john Sutter a Swiss immigrant who fled his home to escape to depter’s prison, built a settlement on 76 acres and called it New Helvetia, after his homeland. He builds a fort called Sutter’s Fort (which has been restored and can be seen today.” (Sacramento). In that year, Sutter appointed James Marshall, a millwright to construct a landing on the Sacramento River that Sutter later calls it the embarcadero and helped him on the settlement. James Marshall a millwright founded the gold in Sutter’s property along the foot hills, and with that it has started the California gold rush and many people from around the world came to Sutter’s fort to mine up the gold in the hills. Monterey was originally chosen as the capital of California; however, Monterey was having the constitutional convention in 1849, in response to this news California moved the capital. The capital was later moved to the city of San Jose but it did not work so they moved it to Vallejo and Benicia but sadly it did not work and capital was finally moved to Sacramento. “Originally, Monterey was chosen as the capital of California.
