In the book Enrique’s Journey, author Sonia Nazario gives lots of empathy for her characters. The reason why she shows so much empathy might come from her special background and experiences. Both of her parents’ families immigrated from Syria and Poland to Argentina due to religious persecution and poverty. They got married and immigrated to America in 1960.
