Literary Analysis “Sacrifice is a state of mind in which our thoughts turn towards heaven and our ancestors for something in return,”-Kungi. The Lottery is a short story about how a town has a lottery. Each person takes a sheet of paper out of a black box if you get the black dot you're going to be sacrificed because they think they think they will get better crops if they sacrifice a person. In the story The Hunger Games, about how because of what district 13 did, (trying to overthrow the Capital) the capital made the Hunger Games to show that their in charge. Two people from each district get their names pulled to fight one another and kill each other, the last person standing wins and their district gets showered with gifts. To prove that this statement is true, I’m going to share the evidence I used to help me determine this and why I chose it. “ Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon.” This piece of evidence is showing how in order to have good crops they need to have the lottery, they think by having the “Lottery,” in june by killing someone that, good crops will come. I used this to help me find the conflict by, the Lottery is where they are making the sacrifice and the cron is representing the harvest so by making a sacrifice they will get better crops. Another piece of evidence is, “ It isn't fair, it isn’t right.” This piece to me is telling me how she was against what everyone is doing to her in order to get good crops. I helped this find the conflict by, not everyone is with what they are doing but, it has been tradition for so long that they don’t know how to speak up to tell people what they are doing is wrong. So, that is why I chose those two pieces of evidence to support my conflict for the Lottery that their sacrificing people because they think they will get better or good
