The Sioux Nation is still around today, and they are still faced with similar challenges in life due to the lack of help from the government on the reservations. Nearly 50 percent of the Sioux Nation over 40 has Diabetes. In the book, Saga of the Sioux it draws attention to the conflicts, theme, and author's point of view of the story. The story Saga of the Sioux contains two conflicts. The first conflict is man vs society. The first is man vs nature. An example for man vs society would be were it says “ they were assaulted by settlers (miners).” If they were assaulted by the miners they were obviously not treated fairly. It says this in sentences like, “If they had left him be was going to put the gun down.” That was also part of the theme. That shows how badly they were treated. He may not have shot it and shot someone causing the big shootout/upset. The theme how Native Americans were treated badly. It says it when it says, “If they had left him be he was going to put the gun down.” The second theme was that you should not give up and fight for your rights. A detail for that is “As few of the Indians had arms, there some had to flee then the big Hotchkiss guns on the hill opened up on there tracking the indians camp shredding with funny sharpening killing women and children.
