Sally Ride was born May 26, 1951 in California. She graduated from Westlake High School located in Los Angeles in 1968. She went to Stanford University and earned her degree in Physics and degree in English in 1973 and a Master of Science and Doctorate in Physics in 1975 and 1978. After she got her degrees she applied to work for NASA. Sally Ride was chosen as one of NASA's first six female astronauts. She began training in 1978.
