Everyone deserves a decent home. However, what most people do not understand is that homeless individuals are not to blame. There are troubles that have originated from our society and have to do with how we “set up shop.” People without shelter face many challenges. For example, these individuals are at a greater risk from bad weather to unsafe environments. The following essay will demonstrate and explain how Samantha Caballero’s troubles are not her fault; this will be done by using and implying a social imagination. In the article “Homeless Families in Illinois Walking a Hard Road,” published by The New York Times, we are first introduced to Samantha Caballero. Samantha is not alone, “There are seven of them: Six Children. One mother. No home” (1). Like Ms. Caballero, and the numerous homeless individuals living in Illinois, these people do not have enough money to afford a house. To summarize, Ms. Caballero is a single mother without a home who believes the system inhibits progress. She believes her public support is not enough and she does not have money saved up for a home.
