In Sammy Keyes and the Hotel Thief, Sammy spots a thief in a hotel stealing out of a purse who also spots her. However, when she tells the police, they don't believe her. Sammy has to find clues pointing her in the direction of the identity of the hotel thief, Oscar the ice cream man.
A few days after Sammy saw the hotel thief, she found a napkin from the Double Dynamo stand in town. It was an ice cream stand run by a blind and almost deaf man named Oscar. Sammy and her friend Marissa would go there often to buy some Double Dynamos. The napkin found at the Heavenly Hotel might have fallen out of Oscar's pocket when he stole the wallet out of the purse.
