Because of the embargo act and Britain blockading their ports, America was forced to make their own goods and supplies. Samuel Slater helped bring the industrial revolution to the US by bringing the ideas of mills and other machines to the US. Because America was now making their own goods, prices lowered, benefitting the lower and middle class. The working class also suffered, because workers were now replaced by machines, but there was also an opportunity to work with the new inventions. Farmers would leave their farms to work in the cities, which changed the economy from prominently agricultural to industrial.
