Drugs and Alcohol have always been problems within society for many reasons, however more so because people have used them to experiment with and in experimenting begin abusing them then end up getting addicted to them. Often these same people wind up overdosing on the very drugs they simply wanted to experiment with. It appears that teens are starting to get more into drugs and alcohol especially when there are older peers that are able to make them readily available. Many times the teens try then willingly but the largest reasoning is peer-pressure and then they start to like how it makes them feel. In order for the teen to get the same effect as the last time they begin having to do a little more at a time. This is what starts a very …show more content…
At the age that she is and her grade level Denise may not be aware of her morals at that time. The way it sounds her mom has morals though. The issue with morals is that from this situation the moral would be the belief that doing the drugs and alcohol are wrong. If her daughter is too far into her drug and alcohol abuse she is not going to care about her own morals or the morals of her mom. Facts are that the issues with surrounding drug and alcohol abuse are that she could overdose or even die from the overdosing. If she does not overdose she is still chancing ruining her internal organs and body. Psychologically she could be causing herself unnecessary depression, anxiety or paranoia if not all three. It also appeared that she had switched to stronger drugs. She went from using marijuana to heroin which points to the fact that she was not getting the high that she used too. Denise, her brother and her mom are all responsible parties in this situation. Denise has risked her life. Her mom is risking using her only daughter. Her brother is risking losing his sister and placing himself at risk for possibly becoming addicted and possibly abusing drugs as well. If he looks up to her it is possible that because of her use then it would not hurt to at least try for
