Illegal drug use at a young age is a problem in schools in the U.S. and even worldwide. At least sixteen percent of teens between 12 and 17 years of age are subject to drugs. (Age of Substance.) The top 3 drugs that teens abuse are marijuana %36.4, Amphetamines %8.7, and Synthetic Marijuana %7.9.The estimated cost of at least these drugs exceeds 190 million dollars as this includes lost productivity, healthcare costs, and legal costs to stem the flow.

Drug abuse and overdose are affecting people's lives financially, mentally, and physically. It is also a large cause of America's debt and can start problems with the state. Many state legislatures can look bad if their reports say that %20 of their population does drugs People don’t want to go and end corrupting states and most cities. The way young teens get addicted to drugs is by their friends encouraging them to or by peer pressure. Because of that most teens are affected by this lifestyle. Drugs are extremely addicting, but getting to them is extremely hard and expensive.

It leaves so many teens broke and poor that they end up living on the streets when they get a hold of money they end up buying more. Federal Laws and Penalties state that it ranges from 50 plants, a 5 years sentence, and a 250,000 dollar fine, to over 1000 plants, 10 years to life and a 1,000,000 dollar fine.
